For mural installation, you will need the following tools:
- Measuring tape
- Bubble level
- Pencil
- Masking tape
- Plastic straight-edge smoother
- Paintbrush or roller and tray
- Bucket of water and rag or sponge
- Wall covering adhesive (strippable heavy duty clear paste).
Refer to the
Sizing Page for diagrams illustrating mural placement and furniture. A good rule of thumb is to allow 4 to 6 inches between the top edge of the canvas and the ceiling for large and medium-sized murals. For small murals, simply center the canvas just below eye level. Defer to that which feels most natural in your room.
If your mural will be covering an electrical outlet, remove the cover plate before installation. The mural can be easily trimmed around the outlet junction box and the cover plate re-installed after the mural is hung.
